WELCOME

WELCOME to the HEARTS website; we're glad you stopped by!  This is where you can find out all about HEARTS, a Christian faith-based group which endeavors to walk with the Lord in all we do.  HEARTS was formed to support Virginia homeschooling families in both Loudoun and Fairfax counties.  The group is comprised of approximately 70 homeschooling families with roughly 100 homeschooled students in 8th-12th grades.

We invite you to explore our classes, teachers, sports, and graduation to see if our community is a good fit to support your homeschool.

Writing Skills Workshop

On Saturday, January 28th, we have a wonderful opportunity to hone our students' short essay writing skills. Janice Campbell, a writing teacher who has been touring the Mid Atlantic with her Beat-the-Clock Essay Workshop will be here to share her techniques for tackling the timed essay. These are skills that all high school students can put to regular use but most notably for the S.A.T. tests and for all Advanced Placement tests.

Volunteer Opportunities!

Backpack Buddies

Backpack Buddies is a program that runs all year at Galilee United Methodist Church.  The program provides backpacks full of donated food items to families in need to help feed the children over the weekends. These children attend a local public elementary school that does not receive any government assistance. HEARTS has an opportunity to help again this year by bringing food donations of single packaged oatmeal or cereal, snack bars, crackers in individual packages, jellos, puddings, juice boxes or milk boxes and single sized mac and cheese, soup, ravioli, tuna and crackers.  All items must be able to fit in the backpacks of small children, thus the single size requirement.  Also students who have free time during study hall can learn to pack the backpacks.  Simply see Mrs. Garnier during the school day if you are interested in packing.

DONATIONS NEEDED

We'd like to be more eco-friendly this year and strongly encourage all students, teachers, hall & study hall monitors to bring re-usable coffee mugs and drink cups. Just in case you forget yours, we will still try to supply plastic cups, hot/cold cups, plastic utensils, napkins, etc... If you have any of these items in surplus in your homes, please consider donating them to HEARTS.

We also will be in need of hand sanitizers, tissues, baby wipes or Lysol wipes.  Again, if you have a surplus, or open containers that you won't be using, please consider donating them to us!
